Hi my name is Jie Ru! (also known as JOYRU)
As an illustrator and designer, I find joy in all things fun and nonsensical. Hence, my work is often playful and whimsical, drawing inspiration from childhood along with random things in everyday life. From digital illustration, watercolour painting to clay, I enjoy exploring a wide variety of mediums. Although I have loved art since young, my degree in Visual Communication from NTU School of Art, Design and Media has not only helped me hone my skills, but also discover my passion for story- telling and book design.
Designing or illustrating is an intuitive process for me; if something feels not quite right, I will keep working on it until I fix it. I am always open to new challenges, as it allows me to not only grow as a designer, but as a person too.
